how to commission a pet portrait

Choose a favourite photograph or a selection which you feel captures your pet best.  Do they have an expression that’s ‘them’.  It must be close enough to show the eyes clearly (shaggy fringes allowing).  Indicate which photo best represents the colour of the coat.  It's best to take the photograph outside and remember to get a good close up of your pet, not the house or garden!  If possible the artist is happy to come and photograph your pet for the painting.  Any travel costs incurred are added to the order.

Do you have a colour in mind for the background?  Have you decided on a specific place to hang your commission?  If not, have a look at the galleries for inspiration or I can suggest a colour.

More than one dog?  Add 30% to prices quoted for a second dog on the same canvas.  For a third in the picture add a total of 50% (see 'sizes and prices' in menu).

Composition of painting.  Would you like your sitter(s) to be cropped on the canvas or a more traditional pose?

Digital images can be emailed to me or photographs posted.  Portraits take approximately six weeks to complete once a starting date has been agreed.  If the portrait is for a specific date ie. birthday or Christmas, please let me know.

A 50% deposit is payable once painting starts to secure the six week timeframe in the painting schedule.  You will be emailed a digital photo of the finished commission to make sure you are completely happy with the portrait.  The balance is then payable before the painting is shipped.  Costs will depend upon the size of canvas.

Postage is not included in the price of a commissioned work.  This will depend on the size of the canvas and will be added to the total amount payable.
